"What should I wear to my photo session?"
As a photographer, I often get asked this by my clients.
When it comes to preparing for a photography session, choosing the right outfit is one of the most important decisions you will make. Your outfit will not only affect how you feel during the session but also how you look in the final photos. I want you to look and feel your best! While it may be tempting to wear bold and bright colors, opting for neutrals can actually be a better choice. Here are some reasons why wearing neutrals to a photography session is a good idea:
{Timelessness}: Neutral colors have a timeless quality that will never go out of style. Unlike trendy colors that may look dated in a few years, neutrals will always look classic and elegant. This means that your photos will stand the test of time and you can enjoy them for years to come.
{Versatility}: Neutral colors are incredibly versatile and can be paired with almost anything. This means that you can mix and match different pieces to create a variety of outfits without having to worry about clashing colors or patterns. This also makes it easier to coordinate outfits with other members of your group or family.
{Focus on you}: When you wear neutral colors, the focus of the photo remains on you and your expressions, rather than on your clothing. Bold colors or busy patterns can be distracting and take away from the emotion and personality captured in the photo. Neutral colors allow your face and body language to take center stage.
{Timeless Backgrounds}: Many photography sessions take place outdoors or in natural settings. Neutral colors blend in beautifully with natural surroundings, making the focus of the photo your face and body language, rather than a bright or busy outfit. This also creates a cohesive look and feel to your photos.
{Flattering}: Neutral colors are universally flattering and tend to look good on everyone. They also help to create a cohesive look when multiple people are being photographed together.
Here are some of my tips when choosing an outfit for next session,
1. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you're not comfortable in what you're wearing, it will show in your photos.
2. Consider the location of the shoot. If we're shooting outdoors, try to choose an outfit that blends well with the natural surroundings. If we're shooting indoors, think about the colors and style of the location and choose an outfit that complements it.
3. Choose colors that complement your skin tone. Bold or bright colors can be distracting, so opting for neutrals or softer hues can be a better choice.
4. Avoid busy patterns or logos, like I mentioned above. They can be distracting and take the focus away from you in the photo.
5. Coordinate with your group or family. If you're being photographed with others, consider coordinating your outfits to create a cohesive look.
